Home Learning Lessons
Each year group have home learning lessons with resources, video links and explanation videos from the teachers. This is emailed to parents/carers each week and is also put on the Belleville School website.
We expect and encourage the children to complete all of the activities over the week so that they are all in the same place when we eventually are all back at school. The days are a suggestion and also indicate which lesson will be the focus for the live explanations (see below). Parents and carers may of course choose to do this in a different way that best suits their family and circumstances.
Maths (Years 1 – 6)
Parents and carer can access the Maths No Problem textbooks and workbooks online by following this link SELF SIGN UP .
When on the website, please enter this access code for your class, sent separately.
You will need to enter your name and email and then follow the instructions to be able to view the books. There is a video explaining how to use the Maths No Problem textbooks and workbooks here: VIDEO
We would like children to share their work with their teacher regularly via Tapestry/Seesaw. We know that this can be time consuming for parents/carers so have indicated with an arrow on the home learning plan which are the key pieces that teachers need to see so they have a good understanding of how your child is doing with the learning. You are welcome to upload more of course.
The teachers will review and acknowledge each piece of work, comment on and support any mistakes and provide more detailed feedback on the key pieces. This will usually be in the form of a comment on successes which we call ‘What Went Well’ (WWW) and any areas that could be improved called ‘Even Better If’ (EBI). This may be written or in the form of a voice note.
Phonecalls to parents/carers
Class teachers will be contacting parents and carers by phone over the course of each week to keep in touch with you directly. They will leave a voicemail if they can’t get through – if you would then like a call back, please leave a message through the school office or via Tapestry/Seesaw with a suitable time and number the teacher can contact you on. Please note these calls may come from a ‘Withheld number’.
Live interaction sessions on Zoom
Reading Groups - Weekly for Reception – Year 6
We would like all children to join the Zoom meeting for reading on their usual reading day. These will be sessions with their usual small group and their class teacher.
Talking Together - Weekly
We would also encourage all children to join in the ‘Talking Together’ session with their class on Zoom on Fridays. This is a live online meeting for your children and will be a great chance for the class and teacher to interact. Please note this is a meeting for the child only and not an opportunity to discuss anything else as a parent/carer.
Live Explanations on Zoom - Daily
We have benefitted from researching and learning from colleagues in the UK and Hong Kong about virtual teaching, as well as developing our practice over Zoom in the autumn term. These sessions are optional but are on offer for parents and carers to use, as you see fit, to support your child’s motivation and learning.
The Belleville teachers and support staff have been split into two teams – one in school working with the children of key workers and one at home planning and providing live explanations of the home learning for most subjects/areas of learning over the week. The staff will then swap the following week.
The sessions will last between 15 - 30 minutes depending on the age of the year group, as keeping focus on screen is more difficult the younger the child is. We have off-set these sessions to support siblings in different year groups being able to access.
Please do contact us, if you haven’t done so already, if you need support with wi-fi or tablet devices.
